Lustrous faded mint red mellowing to steel brown with about 75% of the planchet showing mint color. A sharp, very attractive cent struck from the earliest state of the dies. The fields on both sides are covered with fine vertical die polishing lines and the only star that does not show full radial lines is #5. The only defects are a half dozen small specks of carbon including one at the upper point of star 2 and another over star 8. Otherwise this cent would be a candidate for gem status. Perhaps the graders at PCGS aimed a bit low on this one. VEDS, die state a early. Our grade is MS63+, tied for CC#5 of the variety but finest of the early state by a good margin in the Grellman census. The attribution and Twin Leaf Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.

AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
