Very attractive lustrous steel brown and light chocolate with mellowed mint red covering 20% of the obverse and brighter mint color covering at least two-thirds of the reverse. Nicely struck with full radial lines in all but one of the stars and no low spots, which is quite unusual on this variety. The only marks are a spot of microscopic carbon under star 3 and another between star 8 and the hair. The reverse is choice, void of any notable marks. LDS, die state d, with fine die cracks on the reverse including a very faint one down from the ribbon loop to a dentil below. The fields are covered with radial flowlines and flowlines connect the bases of the 1 & 4 to the dentils below. A very nice example of the variety; probably undergraded by NGC based on their usual standards. Our grade is MS63+, tied for CC#5 for the variety and second finest of the late die state in the Grellman census.
