Mottled mix of tan and darker steel brown. The corrosion is microscopic, essentially not worthy of mention, but there are some fine scratches on the obverse. The scratches are located in the left obverse field and on the cheek, and none of them is visible to the unaided eye. When makes this cent special is that the planchet is split, this being the obverse while the reverse side is gone. The devices from the reverse are just a faint shadow. The cent weighs 84.9 grains, about half of what a normal "complete" cent should weigh. Our grade is net VF20. The Split Planchet error and attribution are noted on the NGC label.

AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
7. Lots will be available for viewing during the Houston Money Show bourse hours January 17, 2020 and by appointment.
