1854 N-22 R3+ MS63+Lustrous light bluish steel with 15% of the planchet showing mint red. The surfaces are satiny and this cent has great eye appeal. The only defects are the usual shallow low spot that covers the upper half of the neck up to the top of the ear and a very light diagonal nick under the right side of star 1. The hair from the top of the ear to under the Y is not fully struck as a result of the minor die clog, but the rest of the portrait is quite sharp. EDS, die state a. The horizontal dash right of the top of the 4 is clear. A very nice cent, CC#5 of the variety in the Grellman census. Removed from an NGC holder graded MS65BN (NGC label #3184016-002 included).Certificate Number: Pedigree: From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection
