Very attractive lustrous mint red fading to light steel brown and olive with half the mint color remaining. The surfaces are satiny and this cent has outstanding eye appeal. The only marks are a nick-like planchet chip on the jawline near the ear lobe, a puff of darker toning above star 5, and a hint of slightly darker toning at F-A. Otherwise this cent is a gem. MDS, die state b. The fine repunching under the 185 is clear and there are very fine die clashmarks on both sides (an unclashed example is unknown and may not exist). Our grade is MS63+, very close to MS64, and tied for CC#5 honors in the Grellman census. The attribution and Twin Leaf Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2, none finer in RB.Ex Douglas F. Bird 8/1998-Bill Yates, Ira & Larry Goldberg Auctions 2/2001:600-Jack Wadlington (The Twin Leaf Collection), Stack's Bowers 7/16/2015:2679-John Davis Collection (includes the Wadlington collection notes and both lot tickets)Certificate # 406119.65/31543425

2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
7. Lots will be available for viewing during the Houston Money Show bourse hours January 17, 2020 and by appointment.
8. Mail bids, or phone bids will be accepted up through the day of the sale. Please direct email bids to kevin@indeetlib.com. All bids will be reduced.
