Lustrous light to medium brown and steel with a couple peeps of mint red in protected areas. There is a speck of verdigris on the B in LIBERTY and another on the rim at R in AMERICA, but these are barely visible. EDS (but not quite the earliest), die state a. The die lines over NI are clear and the fields are satiny, covered with microscopic flowlines that create attractive flowline luster. The repunching inside the triangle of the 4 is clear and a shallow low spot covers the upper half of the neck (as usually seen on this variety). Our grade is MS60. Not in the overall census for the variety but tied for finest known of the earlier die state in the Grellman census. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 5, none finer in BN.Ex Dale Anderson 10/1995-R. S. Brown, Jr., McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 6/2/2002:1319-Chris McCawley 12/2003-Daniel W.
