Lustrous bright mint red fading to light steel brown on the highpoints with 75% of the original mint color remaining. The only notable mark is a shallow planchet flake in the dentils at the second A in AMERICA, and that flake is darkly toned. E-MDS, die state b early. The short die lines from the neck are faint but the lines at stars 1-2 are clear. A very shallow low spot covers the lower half of the face and upper half of the neck (as struck). An impressive cent; a gem if not for the low spot and flake (both as struck). Our grade is MS63+, second finest of the variety in the Grellman census. 406048.64/31543738 Ex William Yates, 1995 EAC Sale, lot 475-R. S.
