Glossy light olive with frosty bright mint red covering nearly a third of the planchet. Lustrous and attractive with just a few trivial marks. A line of microscopic ticks on the front edge of the neck and a small spot under the 5 are the notable marks. Nicely struck E-MDS, Manley state 1.0, Fuhrman state 1. The dull die line slanting through the first T in STATES is visible. This is the plate coin for die state III in the Breen half cent encyclopedia (see page 448). Our grade is MS63. Housed in an older generation PCGS slab. (The slab is scuffed)
