1852 N-5 R2 VF30Glossy brown with darker chocolate and olive brown toning in protected areas. The surfaces are smooth and there are a few minor marks. A dull nick just off the tip of the wreath stem, another under the N in CENT, and a small rim nick under the end of the wreath ribbon are the best identifying marks. Extremely rare LDS, die state c, with a strong rim cud break from star 5 to star 6. Tied for CC#1 of only 9 known with the single rim cud. This is the plate coin for the die state in the 2001 edition of the Grellman reference on the cents of 1840-1857.Certificate Number: Pedigree: Ex Chris McCawley 9/1998-McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 2/7/2000:2294-R.
