Frosty mint red mellowing to steel brown and chocolate with nearly a third of the faded mint color remaining. There is a shallow planchet void under star 3 that has a light scratch under it, and there is a tiny low spot at the right point of star 1. A spot of very fine carbon between star 1 and the bust is the only other defect. E-MDS, die state a. Low spots caused by debris on the die (probably lubricant) cover the lower half of the neck and parts of the field inside the wreath. Tied for CC#10 in the Grellman census. Ex J. R. Grellman collection (found unattributed on the bourse at the 6/1993 Long Beach Expo) 2/1/2012-Fred Iskra, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 1/31/2016:852 (includes the Grellman and Iskra collection envelopes and the Goldberg lot ticket)
