1852 N-17 R1 Repunched 1 MS64+Frosty mint red fading to light steel brown on the devices with about two-thirds of the faded mint color remaining. Lustrous with sharp details and great eye appeal. A gem cent except for a few trivial marks including a tiny, light scratch at the upper left point of star 1 and a couple tiny specks of darker toning at star 10. M-LDS, die state c. The fields are flowlined and the repunching below the base of the 1 that is present in the earlier states is gone. A beautiful cent, CC#5 in the Grellman census. And it comes with a great provenance.Certificate Number: Pedigree: Ex Howard R. Newcomb-Floyd T. Starr, Stack's 6/13/1984:716-R. E. "Ted" Naftzger, Jr. (via William C. Noyes) 3/10/2004-Daniel W. Holmes, Jr., McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 1/30/2011:517-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection (includes the Naftzger collection envelope and Starr lot ticket)
