Frosty medium brown and chocolate with a few faint peeps of very faded red on both sides and a puff of darker brown toning on the lower portion of the obverse. The fields are frosty and this cent is choice except for some tiny ticks on the cheek. Sharply struck M-LDS, die state e. The obverse fields are very rough from die deterioration and the repunching on the 18 is gone. (The obverse is lapped soon after to smooth out much of this roughness while the reverse die state remains unchanged.) An interesting die state. Our grade is AU50. 3515778-006 Ex Jonathan Kern-Thomas D. Reynolds 11/1994-Robert E. Vail, Superior 9/7/1997:770-R. S. Brown, Jr., McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 6/2/2002:698-Daniel W.
