Frosty light olive. The surfaces are satiny and the strike is sharp, but there are a couple nicks under star 7 plus traces of reddish planchet slag imbedded into the planchet on both sides. Several pieces of this variety are known that have traces of planchet slag, mostly at the dentil tips. The slag on this piece is located at the dentil tips near stars 6 & 7, UN, and RICA. A very curious phenomenon. EDS, die state a. The fine die lines from the neck are sharp and there is a very tiny but clearly defined rim cud under the 4. The fields are very slightly reflective. Tied for CC#8. Comes with a nice provenance.Ex Jerry A. Bobbe 6/17/1985-R. E. "Ted" Naftzger, Jr. (via William C. Noyes)-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection (includes the Naftzger collection envelopes)
