Lustrous mint red fading to light olive and steel brown. Nearly a third of the original red remains on the obverse and 80% of the bright original red shows on the reverse. The toning in the field behind the head is a couple shades darker than the other toning on the obverse. The surfaces are satiny and nearly flawless. There are two inconspicuous small spots left of star 1, one more right of star 13, and another below the 4. The reverse is pristine. E-MDS, die state b, with crumbling in the left notch of the second 8. A very nice cent. Our grade is MS64, tied for CC#2 behind a marginally finer example in the Grellman census.
