Date: 1847Frosty light olive and bluish steel with very faded mint red in protected areas, mostly on the obverse. Looks mint state but there is a hint of friction on the very highest points of the devices. A tiny struck-through line at the tip of the nose can help identify this cent (as struck). LDS, die state e, with strong die cracks on the reverse and a small but strong rim cud over the second S in STATES. Tied for CC#8 of the variety but third finest of those few known with the cud break in the Grellman census.Ex Chris McCawley 2/1990-R. S. "Robbie" Brown, Jr., McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 6/2/2002:424 (includes the Brown collection envelope)
