A lustrous mint state cent with great eye appeal, but there are a couple very light contact marks high on the neck and upper part of the hair bun. Otherwise this cent is choice and the toning is a very attractive light olive and medium brown. MDS, die state a. The fields on the obverse are lightly flowlined but there are no rim cuds. The curious "moonscape" texture on the portrait is clear (same as always seen on 1846 N-16 & N-17). Repunching is clearly visible on all 4 digits of the date, and the "Large 7 over Medium 7" feature is obvious. Tied for CC#8 in the Grellman census. A very attractive example of this tough die variety, and it comes with a nice provenance.Ex George Ramont 8/7/1980-Jules Reiver-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection (includes the Reiver collection envelope)
