Date: 1847Frosty light to medium olive with at least 20% of the original mint red remaining, mostly on the obverse. Sharply struck except for minor weakness on the E in CENT. This cent is choice except for a stain of darker reddish brown toning under the wreath, and the stain contains microscopic verdigris. MDS, die state c early. The die crack up from the right center of the R in AMERICA is light but visible. Our grade is MS60+, CC#9 in the Grellman census. Must have been close to receiving an "RB" designation from NGC. Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution is noted on the NGC label.306867-033Ex Jack Collins, Bowers & Ruddy "Fairfield" sale, 10/6/1977:960-Myles Z. Gerson (via Denis W. Loring) 1/1980-R. S.
