Date: 1846Sharpness close to mint state but covered with very tiny nicks, mostly on the obverse. None of the marks is notable but there are too many too many to ignore. Looks mint state to the unaided eye. The only other mark is a small, inconspicuous splash of darker toning between the A & M in AMERICA. Frosty light steel brown with faded mint red in protected areas, especially on the reverse. Rare LDS, die state d, with a strong rim cud from star 13 to the 6. Tied for CC#3 of those known with the cud break in the Grellman census. Comes with a great provenance.Ex Howard R. Newcomb-John P. Young, Barney Bluestone 9/29/1945:825-Chris Petersen-Jon Hanson-R.
