Frosty light greenish olive blending to light olive brown in protected areas. There are a few tiny peeps of mellowed mint red on both sides, mostly on the reverse. Satiny, sharp, and void of marks or other defects. An impressive cent with great eye appeal in spite of a lack of obvious mint color. EDS, die state c (but this is actually the earliest die state--an error in my book). The dash left of the base of the 4 is fine but visible and fine diagonal lines show near the dentils along the bottom of the reverse, clearest at UN. Our grade is MS63., tied for CC#3 in the Grellman census. A really nice example of the Tall Date 1846.Ex Stack's Bowers (sale date not recorded), lot 1130-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection
