Choice lustrous mint red fading to medium steel brown and light chocolate with a third of both sides showing slightly mellowed mint red. This cent has outstanding eye appeal. The only marks are a tiny speck of darker toning at the dentils above star 5, a tiny tick on the bust tip, and a spot of reddish brown crud at the dentils below the end of the wreath stem. E-MDS with a light die crack at ME, and there is a small but clearly defined cud break on the rim where the crack begins. In addition there are "Phantom Dentils" on the obverse rim from star 5 to star 7 plus a couple more at star 3 (same as seen on the 1838 N-6, just located differently). Graded MS63 and tied for CC#2 in the Noyes census, his photo #56847. Our grade is MS63+, close to MS64. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS Gold Shield label.
