Reddish brown and light olive. Smooth and free of notable defects, just worn. The details on most of the planchet are sharper, perhaps VG8, but the strike is uneven. The bottom of the obverse and top of the reverse are quite weak and the date is a ghost at best. Either the dies were out of proper parallel alignment or the planchet is a bit thin in those areas. I vote for #2. MDS based on the strength of the die crack at the bottom of the wreath. John Wright felt this cent was an early state example but the crack says otherwise. Our grade is AG3 for this minor mint error. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.
