Lustrous mellowing mint red and steel brown with subtle hints of bluish steel overtone. About a third of the faded mint color remains, mostly on the reverse where the mint color is dominant. A spot of dark olive toning under the tip of the nose and a collection of very tiny scratches in the field under star 5 are the only defects. M-LDS with fine die flowlines covering the fields on both sides creating attractive cartwheel luster. The reverse has more flowlines and some swelling inside the wreath because that die was used in an earlier marriage. The repunching at the right top of the C in AMERICA is faint. Called MS65 and CC#3 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS63 and tied for CC#3, his photo #21916. Our grade is MS63. A great cent by any standard. The attribution and Naftzger Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. (The slab is scuffed.)
