Glossy light to medium brown with a horizontal streak of darker brown toning from the forelock to the top of star 4. The surfaces are smooth with only small contact marks including a tiny nick just left of star 12. Extremely rare EDS without the usually seen large cud break over star 8, and the cud reaches well inside the dentil tips. Noyes lists 6 in his census and we are aware of a couple more. The finest is a proof (or prooflike) example in the ANS Collection. Even this earliest strike shows a tiny rim cud over star 8 and a flaw between the dentils directly off the outer point of star 8. The tiny rim cud wears off quickly and it does not show on most of the early examples. Graded VG10 in the Noyes census, his photo #22584. Our grade is VG10. An important piece for the die state collector. The attribution and Twin Leaf Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
