1836 N-3 R1 MS63Lustrous mint red fading light olive brown and steel. The obverse is mostly red with wisps of light steel brown while the reverse shows faded red in protected areas. Just trivial marks, mostly microscopic. A tiny speck of darker toning at the left top of the L in LIBERTY and another off the left point of star 4 are good identifying marks. Very early die state, state a, with smooth fields and uncracked dies. The die line through the M in AMERICA is sharp and the repunching at the top of the I in UNITED is bold. A sharp, very attractive cent. Called CC#2 of the variety in the Noyes census, his photo #30082.Certificate Number: Pedigree: Ex The Essex Institute Sale, Stack's 2/6/1975:205-Herman Halpern, Stack's 3/16/1988:460 (as MS65)-J. R.
