Glossy dark steel brown and chocolate with frosty slightly lighter reddish steel brown toning in protected areas of the reverse, possibly from an old cleaning. The surfaces are smooth and show only a very few trivial contact marks. These include a tiny nick high on the neck, one more under the E in ONE, and two more over the C in CENT. Sharply struck EDS with the reverse die uncracked. Called AU55 and CC#2 in the Bland census. Noyes says AU55 net EF45 and CC#2 behind a slightly finer specimen, his photo #21833. Our grade is EF45. A great example of this tough die variety. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS Gold Shield label.
