Choice lustrous light bluish steel brown with 10% of the obverse and a third of the reverse showing slightly mellowed mint red. The eye appeal of this cent is outstanding. No stains or spots, but there are a few contact marks including a curved nick just left of the date into the dentils below, a vertical nick on the chin, a scuff of faint hairlines on the cheek, a collection of tiny nicks over star 6, and a nick at the top of the second S in STATES. Only the mark left of the date catches your eye. Rare EDS with an uncracked obverse. The die line to the right from the head below star 8 is clear. Graded MS65 and tied for CC#3 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS60 and tied for CC#4 but finest of the EDS by a wide margin, his photo #21601. Our grade is net MS62+. The attribution is incorrectly shown as N-7 on the NGC label and the COL Ellsworth Collection provenance is on the label as well.
