Glossy olive brown and chocolate with peeps of faded mint color in some of the protected areas, mostly on the reverse. No contact marks of note, but there are traces of extremely fine roughness in the field before the portrait and some more inside the wreath at ON and CEN. EDS, before the radial die crack forms from the outer point of star 9 to the dentils. A fine double profile shows on the lips with stronger double and triple outlines on all the stars (a result of die bounce or "machine doubling"). Called AU50 net VF35 and tied for CC#3 in the Noyes census, his photo #21213. Bland says AU50 net EF40 and tied for CC#3. Our grade is net EF40. This was the finest example of the variety in the famous Naftzger collection. The attribution and Naftzger Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
