Lustrous slightly faded mint red mellowing to steel brown with at least a third of the planchet showing mint color, mostly on the reverse. The surfaces are satiny and this piece has great eye appeal. The only notable defects are a speck of carbon hidden in the hair left of star 8 and another over the second T in STATES. MDS, Manley state 2.0, Fuhrman 2, with die clashmarks on both sides. This is the plate coin for die state VI in Breen's half cent encyclopedia (page 357). Our grade is MS64. Housed in an older generation PCGS slab.
