Glossy tan and light brown with darker olive brown covering much of the obverse. Underlying mint luster shows in the fields and the eye appeal of this half cent is excellent. There are a couple microscopic ticks on the cheek and traces of waxy dirt in protected areas on both sides. MDS with the usual collection of small rust lumps present on the reverse, strongest at and below CE in CENT. An "unrusted" example is unknown (the die apparently became rusted before being placed into service). This is the Breen plate coin for his die state II of the variety (see page 354 in his encyclopedia). Our grade is MS60. Housed in an older generation PCGS slab. (The obverse of the slab is scratched.)
