Glossy mottled mix of chocolate and light brown. The surfaces are smooth except for a dusting of very fine verdigris in the field left of the neck. The grade and eye appeal are decent, but they aren't as important as the mint error. This uniface cent is the result of two blank planchets being inserted into the coining chamber at the same time. This planchet was struck between the obverse die and the second blank planchet. While this obverse die was used to strike both the N-2 and N-3 die varieties (different reverse dies), the later die state indicates this strike was during the N-2 marriage. And fortunately we believe we have located the companion uniface strike of the reverse. It was in the John D. Wright collection in 1990 and is documented as photo #32458 in the Noyes Numistudy reference. Just sorry we can't offer them as a pair! Our grade is VF25. The PCGS label calls this a Large Letters type, but that is incorrect. A really neat mint error, and the "100% Uniface Rev Strike" error is noted on the PCGS label.
