Lustrous mint red fading to light bluish steel brown with faded mint color covering about a third of the planchet. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal of this cent is superb. A flawless gem cent. MDS+ with a slightly raised retained cud break from star 13 to just right of the date. The retained cud is clearly raised on the end near the date, less so on the end at star 13. In addition, there is a partial double profile (from die bounce or "machine doubling") on the brow lock, nose, lips, and chin. Called MS65 choice and tied for CC#1 honors in the Noyes census, his photo #21834. Bland says MS63 and tied for CC#1. Our grade is MS65. A superb cent worthy of the finest collection. The attribution and Naftzger Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
