Significantly sharper from the standpoint of wear but the strike is weak in the usual places, especially on the lowest curl and upper part of the wreath. Recolored glossy steel brown and chocolate with reddish brown and tan in protected areas on the obverse. The surfaces are smooth and the fields on both sides are slightly reflective. The only significant mark is a small but obvious planchet flake or pit in the center of the cheek. LDS, Grellman state b. The crack through the R in AMERICA is clear and there is a rim cud from star 3 to star 6, strongest left of star 5. Graded VF30 net VF20 and tied for CC#1 honors in the Noyes census, his photo #28169. Reynolds says EF40 net VF35 and CC#6. This is the plate coin for the variety in John Wright's The Cent Book, 1816-1839.

AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
7. Lots will be available for viewing during the Houston Money Show bourse hours January 17, 2025 and by appointment.

Lots will open at one increment above second highest mail/phone bidder.
