Glossy mix of chocolate, bluish steel, and light olive brown. The only notable mark is a microscopic planchet flake on a dentil at star 6. E-MDS. The reverse fields are smooth and slightly reflective and the parallel die lines at S-O are clear. Called VF35 and CC#2 among the confirmed examples in the Bland census. Noyes says EF40 net VF30 and tied for CC#5, his photo #28590. Our grade is VF35. Plated in the John D. Wright book to illustrate the die variety. An important, attractive cent that comes with a distinguished provenance. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS Gold Shield label.
