Lustrous light bluish steel brown with faded mint red covering 5-10% of the planchet, mostly on the reverse. The surfaces are smooth and satiny, the fields are hard, and the eye appeal of this cent is outstanding. The only notable mark, and it is barely visible under magnification, is a vertical hairline from the hair over the right edge of the eye down to the chin where it fades away. EDS. The repunching left of the first S in STATES and left of the O in OF is strong and sharp. A great example of this interesting die variety. Graded MS63 and tied for CC#2 among the confirmed examples in the Bland census. Noyes says MS60 and tied for CC#2, his photo #35163. Our grade is MS62. The attribution and Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
