Lustrous mint red with several splashes of dark olive brown toning on the obverse. Mint color covers about 70% of the obverse and 90% of the reverse. The only contact marks are a light horizontal nick right of the lower lip, a collection of very tiny ticks over 28, and a very lightly abraded spot at the left end of the line below CENT. MDS, Manley state 3.0, Fuhrman 3, with strong die clashmarks at the H in HALF. The spine from the leaf over the H is sharp. An impressive half cent with this much bright mint color, but the dark splashes are a distraction. This is the plate coin for the variety in the Breen encyclopedia (see page 330). Our grade is net MS63. Housed in an older generation PCGS slab.
