Frosty steel and light olive brown with traces of lighter brown in protected areas. Sharply struck with satiny surfaces and great eye appeal. No notable marks but there is a tiny bit of crud in the field close to the upper lip. MDS with the usual die cracks on the obverse and fine radial die flowlines in the fields. Graded MS60 and finest known in the Noyes census, his photo #56817. We know of one that is slightly better and another that is tied with this piece in our opinion (Naftzger, McCawley & Grellman/Goldbergs 2/1/2009:211 at $7475 and Ahumada, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 6/4/2017:90 at $7638), but only these three that are truly mint state by EAC standards. Obviously this is a variety that is very difficult to find in top grades. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS Gold Shield label.
