1827 N-2 R3 PCGS graded MS65 BrownLustrous steel brown and light chocolate with 5-10% of the original mint color remaining on the obverse, nearly 20% on the reverse. Slightly darker steel brown toning shows in the field before the neck and there are some microscopic ticks in the field off the chin, but the surfaces are satiny and this cent has excellent eye appeal. Sharply struck EDS with full radial lines in all the stars. The very narrow rim cud from star 5 to star 6 that formed in the earlier N-1 die marriage is visible on this cent thanks to some fortuitous centering. Called MS65 Choice and CC#1 by 4 points over the second finest piece in the Noyes census, his photo #20971. Bland says MS63 and CC#1 with the next best confirmed example grading only AU55. Our grade is MS63. AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
7. Lots will be available for viewing during the Houston Money Show bourse hours January 17, 2020 and by appointment.
