The obverse is frosty tan with steel brown highpoints; the reverse is light olive and light bluish steel brown. This cent is lustrous and quite attractive, but there is a touch of rub on the highest points of the portrait. The best identifying mark is a tiny planchet flake nestled between star 1 and the dentils. Nicely struck E-MDS. There is no crumbling in the dentils at stars 5 & 6 and the dash right of the line below CENT is sharp. Graded MS60 net AU50 and tied for CC#6 in the Noyes census, his photo #21377. Bland says AU55 and tied for CC#2 among the confirmed business strike examples in his census. Our grade is AU55. A beautiful cent that comes with a very nice provenance that includes several very prominent collectors of US Large Cents. The attribution and Naftzger-Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
