Glossy light to medium chocolate brown with lots of frosty tan and light brown in the fields and protected areas, especially on the reverse. The surfaces are perfectly smooth and nearly void of marks. A very light nearly horizontal nick under the right point of star 4 and a faint spot of slightly darker toning under star 11 can help identify this cent, but you will need a good glass to see them. There are traces of dirt in some of the protected areas. Nicely struck E-MDS with a very light die crack through the tops of UNITED STATES. Our grade is AU50. Second finest known of this scarce die variety behind only the PCGS PR64BN (Noyes grade AU55) from the Ted Naftzger-Twin Leaf Collections. Clearly superior to the Wright plate coin and the Holmes example. An important cent for the advanced collector. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label
