Highly lustrous light bluish steel with a hint of light olive. Traces of mellowed mint red show on both sides and this cent has outstanding eye appeal. The surfaces are satiny, even on the highpoints, but there are a few marks. The notable marks are a light diagonal scratch on the cheek, another on star 2, another on the truncation above the 18, a spot of lighter toning off the lower left point of star 11, and a scuff that breaks the toning under the right end of the line below CENT. None of the marks catches your eye. MDS. The inner circle is visible from star 3 to star 7 and the fields are covered with microscopic die flowlines. The portrait is covered with fine die rust (tiny lumps), as always on this variety. Our grade is net MS60 (but this cent has the eye appeal of a significantly higher grade). Equal to the second finest known examples of the variety. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.
