A sharp, very attractive cent but there are areas of extremely fine roughness on both sides, strongest at the hair buns and CE in CENT. There is a small patch of very light verdigris or crud right of the base of the E in ONE and specks of dark verdigris nestled into the wreath under ED-ST. Rather lustrous dark steel and olive brown with frosty slightly faded red covering the protected areas, especially on the obverse. MDS, Grellman die state a. Fine die flowlines cover the fields and the overdate is starting to weaken, but the undertype 19 remains visible including the loop of the 9 inside the 0. This cent has excellent eye appeal and appears to be choice mint state to the unaided eye (hence the PCGS grade and CAC Approval). Called MS62 and tied for CC#6 in the Bland census. Noyes says AU55 net AU50, his photo #22647. Our grade is AU58. AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 15% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
