Glossy medium chocolate and light olive brown with lighter steel brown toning in protected areas of the obverse. The fields are satiny and this cent has excellent eye appeal. The only marks are a small tick high on the neck under the earlobe and a faint splash of slightly lighter brown toning over the N in CENT. Nicely struck LDS. Both dies have been lapped to remove die rust leaving smooth fields on both sides. The repunching on the 8 and 9 in the date remains clear. The coronet tip and upper stars are well struck, which is seldom the case in the earlier rusted die state. Called MS60 and tied for CC#6 in the Noyes census, his photo #35155 (but second finest known of the late, lapped die state). Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Naftzger Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
