1817 N-5 R3 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC ApprovedChoice lustrous medium steel brown with mellowing mint red showing on nearly a third of the obverse and in protected areas on the reverse. The surfaces are satiny and this cent has great eye appeal. Nearly flawless; a dull, very light scuff on the bust may help identify this cent, but you need a good glass to see it. M-LDS, die state b. The fields are flowlined and most of the dentils on the reverse are nearly gone. Struck with the reverse rotated 25 degrees CCW relative to the normal head-to-foot die orientation. A beautiful cent. Graded MS63 and tied for CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS63 Choice and tied for CC#1 honors with one other piece, his photo #27227. Our grade is MS63 Choice.Certificate Number: 36562.64/36186625Pedigree: Ex Mayflower Coin Auctions 11/30/1963:132-C.
