1817 N-2 R3 PCGS graded MS65 BrownLustrous bluish steel and olive with underlying very faded mint red, particularly on the obverse. Tiny specks of lighter brown and tan toning are sprinkled over the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is superb. The only mark, and it is trivial, is a tiny diagonal tick on the truncation over the right side of the 8. LDS, die state f, with a bisecting die crack across the reverse from the rim at F-A to the rim at NI in UNITED. Graded MS63 and tied for CC#1 honors with one other piece in the Noyes census, his photo #20887. Bland says MS63 and CC#2 in his census. Our grade is MS64. Comes with a great provenance that includes many famous collectors of large cents.Certificate Number: 36553.65/83246182Pedigree: Ex Walter Allen (Scotland), New Netherlands Coin Co. #44, 6/1954:190-Gene Reale-Richard Picker-C.
