Date: 1817Frosty chocolate brown and steel mixed with lighter brown, especially on the reverse. Satiny and attractive with just a hint of friction on the highpoints. The notable marks are a small patch of very fine carbon over star 1, a small nick in the field before the eye, and a dull, light scratch in the field under star 8. MDS, Grellman state d early, with a radial die crack from the rim through the first S in STATES and faintly through the wreath, but the crack does not reach the O in ONE. Our grade is AU50 net EF45+ for the minor marks. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.36553.58+/34700110Ex David Lawrence Rare Coins-Thomas Wachtel Collection, Early Cents Auctions 1/20/2023:309-The Clackamas Collection (lot ticket included)
