Lustrous tan and light brown with underlying faded mint color on the reverse. There is just a faint trace of rub on the very highest points of the devices but this cent has solid mint state eye appeal. The notable defects are a scratch-like planchet void under the first 1 in the date, a faint planchet lamination left of star 1, and another through the U in UNITED (all as struck). Both of the laminations are surrounded by a puff of slightly darker steel toning; otherwise they would not be worthy of mention. E-MDS. The fields show fine radial die flowlines but the repunching left of the 8 and second 1 is still clear. Sharp doubling (from die bounce) shows on parts of the wreath and legend on the right side of the reverse. Graded MS60 net AU55 and tied for CC#4 in the Noyes census, his photo #35771. Our grade is AU58. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.
