Lustrous light olive and bluish steel mixed with lighter brown, and both sides are delicately mottled. The surfaces are frosty and this cent has excellent eye appeal. A tiny planchet flake near the dentils right of star 7 (as struck), can help identify this cent. E-MDS showing clear dentils around both sides. The flaw along the dentil tips over MERI was caused by a piece of debris (perhaps wire) temporarily stuck to the die. Several examples in this die state show the exact same depression, and there are radial flowlines inside the depression that attest to it being a mint error. Graded MS60 and tied for CC#5 in the Noyes census, his photo #33209. Our grade is MS60+. Comes with a very nice provenance. The attribution and Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
