1816 N-3 R4 PCGS graded MS65BNLustrous light bluish steel brown with underlying faded mint color in protected areas, about 10% of both sides showing some faded red. The surfaces are satiny and this cent has outstanding eye appeal. Nicely struck EDS, before the dies clashed, but with the usual series of small rim cud breaks between stars 8-11. The only notable marks are some small spots of darker olive and steel toning (not carbon) including one near the dentils over star 4 and another close before the eye. Graded MS63 Choice and finest known in both the Noyes and Bland census lists, Noyes photo #21552. This is finer of only two known in mint state. Our grade is MS63.Certificate Number: 36529.65/13092866Pedigree: Ex Howard R. Newcomb, J. C. Morgenthau & Co. 5/16/1945:491-Floyd T. Starr, Stack's 6/13/1984:71-R. E.
