Glossy medium chocolate and steel brown. Smooth and attractive, basically just worn with minor contact marks. The notable marks are a dull nick on the nose, another on the cheek, and one right of star 9. What makes this cent so special is the die state. Terminal die state with a large, strong cud break connecting NITE to the rim above. The opposing dentils at stars 4 & 5 are weak because the cud break claimed so much of the planchet metal. Noyes lists six of these in his census, this one being the second finest and only marginally inferior to the finest known example. Graded VG10 by Noyes, his photo #22087. Our grade is VG10 as well. A great prize for the serious die state collector. Comes with an impressive provenance. The attribution and Twin Leaf Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
