Sharpness near VF25 but there are traces of extremely faint granularity in protected areas. The portrait and the highpoints of the other devices also have microscopic hairline scratches that are well hidden in the glossy dark chocolate brown and steel toning. Traces of lighter brown toning show in some of the protected areas on the reverse. A short hairline scratch under star 4 and a pinprick over the E in CENT may be the best identifying marks on this piece. MDS, Manley state 2.0, Fuhrman state 1, with a light die crack passing through the top of MERICA. An imperfect half cent but still an attractive example of a tough die variety that never comes perfect. The finest known example grades EF and the piece offered here is in the lower end of the condition census.
